The history of the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) began in 1989, when the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Tourism Malaysia appointed a total of 17 full -time Professional Musicians as the basis for the establishment of the orchestra. In 1993, NSO was officially launched by the then Minister of Culture, Arts and Tourism.
Since its launch on 28 August 1993, NSO has held various performance patterns in line with current needs, locally and abroad. Apart from playing western classical songs, opera, ballet and musicals, this orchestra also always gets attention when it accompanies many of the country’s leading artists such as Yuna, Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza, Wings, Jamal Abdillah Jaclyn Victor, Stephen Rahman Hughes and many more. , In addition, NSO was also invited to perform well -known concerts such as Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in Concert 2017 ″, “Distant Worlds” and more.
Among NSO’s overseas performances are at the Esplanade, Singapore (2003), Tokyo and Osaka, Japan in conjunction with “Asia Orchestra Week 2004”. NSO’s close relationship with the High Commissions of Foreign Embassies has increased NSO’s popularity and the orchestra also received leadership from world-renowned guest conductors.
Currently, NSO has 43 full -time professional musicians under the leadership of Encik Nasran Nawi. In addition, the energy services of local and foreign professional independent musicians are often invited to fill the needs of their performances.
